Goodbye, old gyros.
So this girl and I went to Athens last year. It was the weirdest trip. We stayed in the shadiest hostel with a freaky owner with messed up Einstein hair. He overcharged us even though we paid a deposit online. We got accosted by refugees and rioters. We tried terrible Ouzo. We jumped the side fence at the Parthenon then got kicked out by Greek police. Then we stumbled upon hookers on the street and syringes on the ground late at night.
But the redeeming part of this adventure was finding this wonderful gyro stand. They were tasty and cheap and magnificent. They made everything that was going wrong seem okay. The sad thing is I probably won’t ever pick these gyros up again. I wish I still could, but I’m so far from Greece now that I would have to start study abroad once again from the very beginning.
